Alp asked:

I am buying a new house in the UK. My new neighbours downpipes are terminating right at my garage door and their gutters are overhanging on my driveway. Neighbour has a detached house. Do I have the right to get it removed from/above my property? Should I ask the seller sort it out before I buy the property?

I am planning to extend my garage as well, but the neighbour’s downpipe will block my extension.
Interest rates have risen 3rd time since I made an offer for this house. But because of the silly long chain, the sale couldn’t be completed yet. Cost of borrowing increased £240 per month since then. I am not going to buy the house as I realized it may go bust if interest rates go back to 7%+. Thanks for all answers!

Louise

I want to keep leaves from going down the downspouts, but heard that the aluminium will interact with the copper. Is that true?

I’ve heard that the screen on the top of the gutter does not prevent leaves and the like from entering the gutter. Is that true?

We live in Massachusetts and have no idea what the ballpark figure would be to have gutters and downspouts installed in our 85 year old two story colonial home.

Our home is a 2200 sq. foot ranch. We just replaced the roof and would now like to replace the gutters. (if we can afford it)

Any idea how much new gutters would be? Even a ballpark figure would be helpful … Thx

If you take a home with no gutters and add gutters will you get even close to the amount you put into it as added value?

Cal E asked:

I’d like to use common steel window screening tucked under my shingles and slanting down to the outer edge of my gutters, attached with sheet-metal screws. I know there are expensive products available to do this, but it seems like simple screening should do the trick.

Is there a reason this won’t work well? Will rain penetrate the screen properly? Would a bigger screen weave work better? I have thousands of maple-copters that I think would clog a screen with, say, a 1/4-inch weave.

If you’ve done this, please let me know how well it worked and how I should proceed. Thanks!

Timothy

…. asked:

I take off my sweater as the sun shines with all it’s might
I walk around the cold hard cement and some pidgeons on the street catch my attention
There quarrel a group of pidgeons over what seems to be a tiny piece of bread.
They snatch it from each other
Their cries make me want to get more bread Oh their sad cries.
A certain pidgeon flies on by scarying the others away
He guards that piece of bread but doesn’t start eating it right away
He stays in the middle of the street while the others have huddled together on the gutters of a building
A shiny red Honda zoomes speeds straight ahead with no mercy of the pidgeon sitting in the middle of the street
How selfish has this world become with all the advances in technology
You dont need to reflect on anything
Observe the emotions and love nature’s way.
