The regular clips won’t work through the mesh of the gutter guard. I tried adhesive clips but they didn’t stay up in the rain we had yesterday. Any great ideas? (besides staples)

ah ha! shingle clips!!! 
they slide under the bottom edge of the shingle. then, you hook the light string into the other side of the clip. they work great! I don’t even have gutters on most of my house and we’ve got them all over the place! and the best part, is no holes!!! no leaky roof!! lol
